Zábranský, Adam ; Hraba, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Charvátová, Dagmar (referee)
Selected aspects of sharing economy with emphasis on Airbnb and Uber Abstract This paper focuses on the legal regulation of digital platforms which are used to arrange short-term accommodation (the most popular representative is Airbnb) and passenger transport (where Uber is the best-known platform). In the introduction the author explains why he considers it inappropriate to say these platforms are part of "sharing economy", although this term is currently widely used. In addition, the author examines the benefits of Airbnb and Uber platforms in general, such as user comfort, a rating system that allows quality control of provided services, lower prices for the customer than with traditional service providers and a simple way to earn some extra money. At the same time, the author mentions negative aspects of these platforms, such as lower collection of taxes and fees, poor protection of employees and potentially also customers, or reduction of availability and quality of housing. In the next part of the paper the author focuses on each of the mentioned platforms and evaluates the regulation of these platforms, or rather service providers that use these platforms, in the light of both Czech and European case law. Müller, Tomáš ; Frinta, Ondřej (advisor) ; Thöndel, Alexandr (referee)
Carpooling in the light of private and public law Abstract The thesis deals with legal aspects of carpooling across the spectrum of the law of the Czech Republic. Due to carpooling not being a legal term, the thesis itself defines it as a phenomenon when multiple people are traveling simultaneously by one road transport vehicle, under the assumption that the transport is not being provided on a commercial basis. The thesis also describes the differences between carpooling and commercial transport of persons. As far as public law is concerned, the thesis discovers which areas of administrative law apply to carpooling and what consequences arise for the subjects concerned. This involves the regulation of road transport and road traffic in particular. The description of tax implications is also included. Furthermore, the thesis deals with criminal and administrative liability. The focus, however, is on private law. After an exploration of the legal history of transport of persons, the thesis answers the question whether or not contractual obligations arise from carpooling and inspects the elements of the contract along with the rights and duties of the parties. International aspects are taken into account - the thesis studies direct legal norms as well as rules governing conflicting laws. The centrepiece of...
Assignment problem and its particular application in passenger transport
Asterová, Jana ; Jablonský, Josef (advisor) ; Fábry, Jan (referee)
This thesis is focused on the topic of assignment problems. The theoretical part presents a summary of the most important previously published findings on linear and quadratic assignment problem. The basic formulations of both problems are introduced, as well as the outline of some methods developed for their solution. Finally both problems are illustrated by practical applications that have appeared in the literature. The practical part gives insight into the issue of assignment of transport orders to drivers in a company and proposes a suitable model that speeds up the process of distributing the orders. The transfers conducted by the company start at the airport and terminate in a hotel in the city centre of Prague or vice versa. When proposing order schedules for the drivers, it is necessary to take into account not only the time of the transfers, but additionally the capacity and the category of the vehicle.
